This thesis develops the theme of the non-catholic religious spaces for immigrants in the province of Reggio Nell’Emilia with the aim to build a new map of the territory based on the religious belonging of the new citizens and to show the large quantities of informal prayer halls arisen in the area. These sacred spaces are adjusted inside disused rural or industrial buildings that do not present visible formal changes; anyway, the spontaneous and disordered birth of religious spots is going to modify the Italian landscape and to revitalize the interstices abandoned by the local population. The emergency of sacred spaces for immigrants finds an architectonic answer in the two projects presented in the thesis: the first one consists in the transformation of the disused furniture factory Mazzali in Sant’Ilario D’Enza which is turned into a Mosque for the great Islamic community of the province. The building proposes even public services becoming a possible attractor for the local people, too. The second project is dedicated to the large Sikh community in the province of Reggio Nell’Emilia, who owns a space for the prayer in the industrial area in Novellara. Unfortunately, the size of the building is not big enough to host the high number of devotees, so the Gurdwara enlargement is designed.

Abstract
Unfortunately, the size of the building is not big enough to host the high number of devotees, so the Gurdwara enlargement is designed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
