Global economy, energy and environment have experienced different degree of problems today. It is increasing important to know how to keep the social, economic and environmental in sustainable development. In this context, foreign scholars put forward the concept of product service system design. As a sustainable business model which is function-oriented, product service system aims to provide a sustainable services and products. It is the power for sustained economic growth, and offered a space for the establishment of sustainable consumption mode and promotion of environmental sustainability. Bike-sharing is recognized as a kind of green sustainable transportation. It has been widely adopted in many foreign cities, and is beginning to appear in China. Bike-sharing system is a typical case for product service system design. Through the research on European bike-sharing, its value, system design, design consideration, design principles and implementation method are investigated and summarized. The case is analyzed using product service system design theory. Conclusion is extracted based on the analysis results and existing theories. Finally, practical applications of these theories are explored through the system design. This paper aims to introduce product service system design theory to readers through bike-sharing. At the same time, provide reference and guidance for domestic bike-sharing program.
