The aim of this thesis is to design a product service system for health delivery for West Bengal rural areas (India) and its diffusion strategy. In addition an ambulance concept has been developed to be introduced in the context, the vehicle it's designed to work with solar and muscolar energy. This thesis and the vehicle concept is based on the Mulo system, a family of light, solar/muscolar powered vehicles designed by Fabrizio Ceschin during his master degree thesis in Industrial Design, here at the Politecnico of Milan. The Mulo system has been developed under the supervision of the DIS (Design e Innovazione per la sostenibilità), and has been promoted as an open project, to be re-designed and contextualized through collaboration between local universities, companies, institutions and NGO.The Mulo project main task is to spread new innovative models of sustainable mobility, by co-operating and co-designing with all the actors involved in the system. The PSS development has been planned through the transition path, wich is made of four stages: incubation, socio-technical experiments, self atanding solution and diffusion. A very detailled stakeholders network has been settled up, and interactions between all actors have been planned, by using tools for sustainable and systemic design, such as MSDS. In particular system maps, interaction tables and story boards have been widely utilized during the development of the PSS. The innovative systemic solutions developed in this thesis will converge inside an international co-design and co-operation project between India, Denmark and Italy, with the porpouse of realizing a susteinable health mobility system for Sundarbans, West Bengal, India. The collaboration has been started by JGVK (a West Bengal based NGO) and InnoAid (settled in Denmark) under the name of BeRA (Bengali Rural Ambulance)project. Both the organizations tryed to involve universities in the project, such as Politecnico of Milan and DTU of Copenaghen, to find new sustainable solutions to the lack of access to health care in the analized context.
