Scrivimi Olivetti. Dalle macchine per scrivere ai tablet

The design of this exhibition was born from the will to highlight the peculiarities of the Olivetti industrial reality: a project focused on innovation and technological excellence, but, at the same time, not neglecting the social and cultural aspects of the world of work, the commitment to training, a sense of social responsibility, the sensitivity for culture in all its different forms of expression. Through the documents taken into account, I was able to trace lots of events of research works, design, production, marketing in Italy and abroad; but it was also possible range over industrial architectures, design and advertising, life and work of many personalities from industry, factory organization, staff training, the social and cultural commitment, inside and outside the factory, of a company responsible to its employes, local community and territory. But the strength of this company has always been, since its inception, the strong involvement, almost emotional for those who worked there, from the managerial spheres, to the external partners down to the most humble workers. And this is one of the main messages that I wanted to convey in the museum built. Besides familiarizing yourself with the purely cognitive aspects of the Olivetti’s production, I wanted to carry you through atmospheres of different ages, but above all I have given way to participate actively in the visit, taking part in a conversation with personalities, one way or another, related to the company. The exhibition was divided into different areas depending on the years of production, starting from the oldest typewriters to the latest tablets passing through computers. In the last room, where the past will be the bridge to the future, it will be possible to recognize, projected on sculptures made from scraps of old machines, quotations from famous people associated with the Olivetti’s world. It will be given the opportunity to the visitor to provide suggestions, criticisms or appreciations moving, so he’ll be the real protagonist of “Write me Olivetti”.

Il progetto di questa mostra nasce dalla volontà di mettere in luce le peculiarità della realtà industriale Olivetti: un progetto orientato all’innovazione e all’eccellenza tecnologica, ma che allo stesso tempo non trascura gli aspetti sociali e culturali del mondo del lavoro, l’impegno per la formazione, il senso di responsabilità sociale, la sensibilità per la cultura in tutte le sue diverse forme di espressione. Attraverso i documenti presi in considerazione, si sono potute ripercorrere molte vicende delle attività di ricerca, di progettazione, produzione, marketing e commercializzazione in Italia e all’estero; ma è stato anche possibile spaziare sulle architetture industriali, sul design e la pubblicità, la vita e il lavoro di tante personalità dell’industria, l’organizzazione della fabbrica, la formazione del personale, l’impegno sociale e culturale, dentro e fuori dalla fabbrica, di un’impresa responsabile verso i propri dipendenti, la comunità locale e il territorio. Ma il punto di forza di quest’azienda è sempre stato, fin dalla sua nascita, il coinvolgimento forte, quasi emozionale di chi vi lavorava, dalle sfere dirigenti, ai collaboratori esterni fino ai lavoratori più umili. Ed è questo uno dei messaggi principali che si è voluto trasmettere nel percorso museale realizzato. Oltre a familiarizzare con l’aspetto puramente conoscitivo della produzione olivettiana, si è voluto trasportare l’utente in atmosfere legate ad epoche diverse, ma soprattutto gli si è dato modo di partecipare attivamente alla visita interloquendo con personaggi in qualche modo legati all’azienda. Il percorso espositivo è stato diviso in aree diverse a seconda degli anni di produzione , partendo dalle più antiche macchine “per scrivere” fino ai più recenti tablets passando attraverso i computers. Nell’ultima stanza, in cui il passato farà da ponte con il futuro, sarà possibile ravvisare, proiettate su sculture costruite con scarti di vecchie macchine, citazioni di personaggi illustri legati al mondo Olivetti. Al visitatore sarà data l’opportunità di fornire suggerimenti, muovendo critiche o apprezzamenti, in questo modo sarà lui il vero protagonista di “Scrivimi Olivetti”.
