Inventory reduction programme at AgustaWestland's customer support logistic centre : as part of the full report on my internship

The issue this thesis project work is more related to is the increased general stock value of the sub-stock unit IA36 within the Customer Support Logistic Centre of AgustaWestland in Lonate Pozzolo. This is due to many factors, among which the most important ones are related to the IT system change, relocation of the operations facilities to a new venue and, last but not least, imperfections in managing the physical flows on the shop floor level. A multi-criteria procedure was established to remedy the situation. The methodology includes analysing technological feasibility, economic feasibility and evaluation of the status of the spare part and the pool of potential partners, among other factors. A general stock value reduction of 76 per cent was achieved until the first deadline. This achievement, compared to the 68 per cent of reduction as first milestone goal, is a success story. As a conclusion, I can say that the project was a great success and can now be taken as an example pioneer project for dealing with similar inefficiencies in the system.
