This report is an integral view of the quality management in a textile company based on my internship experience in Clerici Tessuto & C. S.p.A. During my internship, I followed the senior colleagues in different departments, from the quality department, the sales department, the product department to the administration department to have a general idea of the company’s operation. The “quality” addressed in this report is not just about the quality department. Quality can be defined differently from different perspectives, for instance from product-based, user-based, value-based or manufacturing-based perspectives. The external quality is the product or service quality that the customers can directly perceive. It includes the product design quality and product conformance quality; they are related respectively to the product department and the quality control department in the CTC. The internal quality is not directly perceived by the customers but it is also crucial for a company; it means how efficient and effective the internal process is inside the company. I analyze the internal quality from the quality concerns of different departments in the CTC, and specially the production performance in the weaving mill. At the end, this report introduces the Cost of Quality, examples and explanations to the different types of quality cost in the CTC are given, and some calculations are done. This report aims to clarify the quality control process in a textile company and give suggestion to the continuous quality improvement with some tools.
