The knowledge of the inertia properties of rigid bodies is of crucial importance for the correct motion simulation of complex mechanical systems. For this purpose, at the Laboratory for the Safety of Transport (acronym La.S.T.) of Politecnico di Milano two test rigs have been constructed and used since 2001 for the measurement of mass, centre of gravity location and inertia tensor of rigid bodies such as cars, light farm tractors, engines, gearboxes and satellites: one test rig is actually the scale version of the other and each one is composed by a multi cable pendulum carrying the body under investigation. Recently, a new method for a direct, single-test, whole inertia parameters identification has been implemented by La.S.T. researchers . Aim of this work is to describe a new hardware configuration and to give a detailed description of measurement procedures necessary to apply the new method. In addition, experimental results on complete vehicles and car engines testing will be reported.

Abstract
In addition, experimental results on complete vehicles and car engines testing will be reported.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
