Un museo per la città di Scutari. Historia Shkodër Albania

The object of study of this thesis is the design of a museum of the history of the Albanian city of Shkodra. The choice of this theme comes from the possibility offered by the city of Shkodra to develop a project included in a development plan recently studied to retrain the entire urban area. This city appears to be a family context only to a part of our group, who spent his childhood in this territory. His origins have been decisive for the choice to understand the context in which we had to operate. Our research began with an extensive analysis of the context that has enabled us not only to determine data and trends, which were then the basis for the design, but it has reported us in first person with a new and unknown culture. Than we started a very delicate phase, represented by the design of a masterplan for the city center. During this process we were able to plan our intervention on a large scale, looking for solutions to the problems of the state of this territory and preparing to welcome in a better way the museum building with all its functions and all its reciprocal relationships with the context. This step allowed us to create a platform that could contain a number of functions and opportunities for the people that before were not guaranteed. The announcement of the project assigned a specific area for the development of our real architectural project, but before we had to understand which was the most useful emergency for the city as a whole, but before we have prepared a series of studies and surveys to determine which was the most suitable function. From these it appeared that the museum would be the primary requirement. Then we moved on to project the complex in its case by focusing first of all on its architecture and then on technological and structural solutions that have allowed us to create a space that is characterized on one hand as a symbol of the city, its traditions and its culture and the other as an incentive to the development of the Albanians building systems. Particular attention has been given to the study of sustainable solutions that could combine the appearance of regionality of materials with the search for innovations that improve the comfort of the visitors and the overall functioning of the building with regard to its energy requirements. Given the type of intervention and its function, we focused on the study of the lighting and the introduction of systems that could make free contributions such as rainwater recovery system and the photovoltaic. Being a building open to the public we have devoted special sections of the thesis discussing the topics of safety and accessibility, as well as a general study of museum furniture. The purpose of this project is to offer to the city of Shkodra a museum center that is configured as a promoter of local culture and as a reference for sustainable technological development on a regional and national level.

L’oggetto di studio di questa tesi è la progettazione di un museo della storia per la città albanese di Scutari. La scelta di questo tema deriva dalla possibilità offerta dalla città di Scutari di sviluppare un progetto inserito in un piano di sviluppo recentemente studiato per riqualificare l’intera area urbana. Questa città risulta essere un contesto familiare solo ad un elemento del nostro gruppo, il quale ha vissuto la sua infanzia in questo ambito territoriale. Le sue origini sono state determinanti sia per la scelta che per la comprensione del contesto in cui siamo andati ad operare. La nostra ricerca è iniziata con un’ampia analisi del contesto che ci ha permesso non solo di determinare dati e tendenze che sono poi state la base per la progettazione, ma ci ha relazionato in prima persona con una nuova cultura che fino a quel momento era per noi estranea. Si è poi proseguito con una fase molto delicata, rappresentata dalla progettazione di un masterplan per il centro città. Durante questo processo abbiamo avuto modo di pianificare il nostro intervento su ampia scala, cercando soluzioni alle problematiche dello stato di fatto e predisponendo questo ambito territoriale ad accogliere nel migliore dei modi l’edificio museale con tutte le sue funzioni e tutti i suoi rapporti di reciprocità con il contesto. Questa fase ci ha permesso di dare vita ad una piattaforma che potesse contenere una serie di funzioni e di opportunità per gli abitanti che fino a quel momento non erano garantite. Il bando di progetto assegnava nello specifico una determinata area per lo sviluppo del nostro vero e proprio intervento architettonico, ma prima di comprendere quale fosse l’emergenza più necessaria per la città nel suo complesso abbiamo predisposto una serie di studi e di sondaggi per determinare quale fosse la funzione più adatta. Da questi è emerso che il museo sarebbe stata l’esigenza primaria. Siamo quindi passati a progettare il complesso nella sua fattispecie concentrandoci dapprima sulla sua architettura e poi sulle soluzioni tecnologiche e strutturali che ci hanno permesso nella loro globalità di dare vita ad uno spazio che si configurasse da un lato come simbolo della città, delle sue tradizioni e della sua cultura e dall’altro come incentivo allo sviluppo dei sistemi costruttivi albanesi. Particolare attenzione è stata conferita allo studio di soluzioni ecosostenibili che potessero coniugare l’aspetto della regionalità dei materiali con la ricerca di innovazioni atte a migliorare il comfort dei visitatori ed il funzionamento globale dell’edificio per quanto riguarda il suo fabbisogno energetico. Data la tipologia di intervento e la sua funzione, ci siamo concentrati sullo studio illuminotecnico e sull’introduzione di sistemi che potessero apportare contributi gratuiti come l’impianto di recupero di acque piovane e quello fotovoltaico. Essendo un edificio aperto al pubblico abbiamo dedicato delle apposite sezioni della tesi per trattare gli argomenti di sicurezza ed accessibilità, oltre ad uno studio generale dell’arredo museale. Lo scopo di questo progetto è quello di offrire alla città di Scutari un centro museale che si configuri come promotore della cultura locale e come riferimento per uno sviluppo tecnologico sostenibile su scala regionale e nazionale.
