The central objective of this paper is to empirically examine the relationship between corporate governance variables and firms’ export performance using a sample of Italian firms. A large part of the previous literature tends to focus on the relationship between the ownership structure of firms and they’re overall performance: few studies have tried to investigate the relationship between corporate governance and export. This paper tries to narrow the gap existing in the previous literature about this subject through the identification of the aspects that allow to link corporate governance and export themes. The empirical results of the analysis show the existence of a relationship between ownership concentration, group affiliation, family ownership, the presence of managers and Italian firms’ export propensity.

Abstract
The central objective of this paper is to empirically examine the relationship between corporate governance variables and firms’ export performance using a sample of Italian firms. A large part of the previous literature tends to focus on the relationship between the ownership structure of firms and they’re overall performance: few studies have tried to investigate the relationship between corporate governance and export. This paper tries to narrow the gap existing in the previous literature about this subject through the identification of the aspects that allow to link corporate governance and export themes. The empirical results of the analysis show the existence of a relationship between ownership concentration, group affiliation, family ownership, the presence of managers and Italian firms’ export propensity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
