Abstract
Electric power steering is important for improving on-center handling and reducing driver steering eff ort. To evaluate the interaction between the racing car and the steering system two vehicle models have been used. The first is a multi body model validated with telemetry data while the second is a single track model. The key aspect of a steering system analysis is the evaluation of on-center handling which is defi ned as the steering "feel" and precision of a vehicle during nominally straight-line driving. Diff erent standard tests have been simulated in order to evaluate vehicle objective measurementes de fined by the ISO standards. The electric power steering has been modelled by the producer and the target is to investigate the control strategy. In this work a global sensitivity analysis considering Weave test and Step input has been performed. The outputs of these tests have been considered as the objective functions of the optimization problem while the design variables are the power steering control values. The results show that electric power steering could reduce friction e ffects and improve vehicle performance.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
