Following an increase in world population and the consequent increased demand for new sources of food and drinking water, together with the introduction of biofuel fuels, many states and corporations have started since the early 2000s to "buy" land in foreign countries to ensure the future both from an energy standpoint and from that of supply of food . This phenomenon is called "land grabbing".
In seguito all’aumento della popolazione mondiale e alla conseguente maggior richiesta di cibo e di nuove fonti di acqua potabile, unitamente all’introduzione dei carburanti biofuel, molti stati e multinazionali hanno iniziato dai primi anni 2000 ad “acquistare” terre in paesi stranieri per assicurarsi il futuro sia dal punto di vista energetico che da quello degli approvvigionamenti di cibo. Questo fenomeno è detto “land grabbing.
