Living elsewhere. Chinese students living in Italy. A project of Chinese overseas students in Italy

After October 2nd 2006, the day that the Project Marco Polo entered into force, the number of Chinese students coming to study in Italy is always increasing, from only 3,949 Chinese students in the year of 2008, to 7,800 Chinese students in the year of 2010, every year there is an increase about at least 30%. So it ‘s very interesting to do a thesis on the integration of culture and people, espe- cially on Chinese students who are studying in Milan. The purpose is to create a project for Chinese people, those who are going to come to study in Italy, to let them know more about the lives of Chinese students who are already here; it’s also a project for italian people, to understand better of Chinese students and to chinese culture; the last but not the least purpose of this project is to build a bridge between Chinese and italian students, and to pull the interests on getting to know the Chi- nese culture. I hope this project could be continued in city by city, more chinese students who study in different parts of Italy could be inter- viewed, could have opportunities to tell their stories and give advices to other students. And also more italian students could be in- terviewed, to participate in enhancing the relationships with chinese students, getting to know better of each other.

Dal 2 ottobre 2006, il giorno che il Pro- getto Marco Polo e’ entrato in vigore, il nu- mero degli studenti cinesi che vengono a stu- diare in Italia e’ sempre stato in crescita, da 3949 persone nel 2008, a 7800 persone nel 2010, con un aumento ogni anno di almeno il 30%. E’ quindi interessante proporre una tesi sull’integrazione tra le culture e le persone, nello specifico sugli studenti cinesi a Milano. L’obiettivo e’ di creare un progetto per cinesi, per coloro che stanno per o tentano di venire a Milano per studiare, per conoscere meglio la vita degli studenti cinesi che già abitano a Milano; e al tempo stesso di creare un progetto per gli Italiani, per conoscere meglio gli studenti cinesi e la loro cultura. Infine, un progetto per costruire un “ponte” tra gli studenti dei due paesi, sopratutto per creare interesse intorno alla cultura cinese. Spero che questo progetto possa in fu- turo continuare a svilupparsi di città in città, con un numero crescente di studenti cinesi intervistati e che studiano in diver- si parti dell’Italia, affinché’ possano avere l’opportunità di raccontare le loro storie e dare consigli utili ad atri studenti. Anche gli studenti italiani potrebbero essere in- tervistati, per poter aiutare a capire come migliorare le relazioni tra persone di nazion- alità’ diversa in visita nel loro paese.
