The Thesis concern is devoted to urban morphological transformation towards a more environmental sustainable system based on optimization of urban system’s constituents, with consideration of the city as a complex adaptive system. In this methodology urban form plays a key role on environmental sustainability. The main goal is improving the energy performance of the city as a single entity, and enhancing its vibrancy and livability, simultaneously. In this holistic multi-scale and multi-disciplinary approach, the main tools are urban morphology, building typologies, functional layout of the urban system and transportation.
La preoccupazione tesi è dedicata alla trasformazione morfologica urbana verso una più ambientale sistema sostenibile basato sull'ottimizzazione dei componenti del sistema urbano, con considerazione della città come un sistema complesso adattativo. In questa metodologia forma urbana svolge un ruolo chiave sulla sostenibilità ambientale. L'obiettivo principale è il miglioramento delle prestazioni energetiche della città come singola entità, e rafforzando la sua vitalità e la vivibilità, allo stesso tempo. In questo olistico multi-scala e approccio multi-disciplinare, gli strumenti principali sono morfologia urbana, tipologie edilizie, funzionali layout del sistema urbano e trasporto.
