Abstract
Although hybrid photovoltaic cells have the potential to achieve high power conversion efficiencies, performances that have been obtained so far are quite low, due to problems at the inorganic/organic interface. A step-change improvement in device performance is enabled by engineering the hybrid interface by means of a proper molecular interlayer. This study introduces the design and synthesis of a novel series of oligothiophenes, aimed at inducing selective intermolecular interactions. The reported results show that small differences in the chemical structure of these interlayers can improve or worsen the final hybrid photovoltaic cell performances. In particular 3-(4-pyridyl)thiophene interlayer doubles the control device efficiency than when no modifier is used.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
