Abstract
The thesis describes how the Home & Building Automation - i.e. the set of techniques for management, control and monitoring of intelligent automation systems in residential and non-residential buildings - can effectively contribute to the issue of energy efficiency. The thesis project analyzes different aspects related to the defined theme, from causes of needs of a sustainable development to the representation of the current legislative and regulatory scenary. Afterwards the elaborate explain an innovative way to improve Easy Save, a software to promote and spread the Home & Building Automation. Thanks to ABB, the market tool is critically analyzed, describing the improvements to be made to make it more efficacious and complete. Through gained knowledge, the software Easy Save is enriched in five different directions, to optimize it as a tool for energy efficiency calculation and evaluation. At the same time, the elaborate develops new tables connected to the energy demand for cooling. They are useful and available to designers for the energy analysis. In addition, in the text are described the characteristics associated with KNX - developed standard for Home & Building Automation - whose structure and potentialities make it the most used in the world. After the analysis of the main functionalities related to intelligent systems in buildings, the thesis presents new technical cards for the control of lighting, heating and the supply of Domestic Hot Water (DHW).
