PalaOROBIC. Nuovo palasport per la città di Bergamo

The thesis takes its hint from the competition Europan8 that involved the city of Bergamo. Specifically, the proposed ban is a transformation of the suburb of Celadina, identified as "New strategic intervention" in programmatic planning of Bergamo, through the study of a new urban structure that improves the quality of places and allow the allocation of new settlements multipurpose character. The drafting of a master plan meeting the requirements of the competition has also led to consider useful and strategically creating a multi-purpose sports center (in the agreement) and to identify some typical structural needs of the building type. Since the PalaNorda (the current sports hall in Bergamo) is unfit to be a structure to the current sports commitments that are carried out both in terms of seating both in terms of services offered to users, the municipality of Bergamo decided to allocate in this section, a new multi-purpose center that is able to meet the needs citizens both in sport, both indoor entertainment (concerts and exhibitions), but at the same time including commercial. The sports hall that is presented here is the result of a series of studies on existing buildings, technical regulations and ministerial programs, mixed with the plant and construction technologies useful for achieving high-performance energy, heat and humidity and noise in buildings. The result of this work is the PalaOrobic, a sports arena that will not be a simple container used for sporting events once a week, but a new sports and cultural center of attraction for the city of Bergamo, offering a mix of functions ranging from simple sports and cultural events, services of neighborhood businesses and leisure activities used by residents in the surrounding areas. A building "live" 24-24h all week. A structure that can be reached by train, coach, bus, bike or on foot, but it is also connected with the main interurban roads of the city and near the airport "Caravaggio" of Orio al Serio.

Il lavoro di tesi prende spunto dal concorso Europan8 che ha visto coinvolta la città di Bergamo. Nello specifico il bando si proponeva una trasformazione del quartiere periferico della Celadina, identificata come “Nuovo intervento strategico” nelle linee programmatiche urbanistiche di Bergamo, attraverso lo studio di un nuovo assetto urbanistico tale da migliorare la qualità dei luoghi e permettere l’allocazione di nuovi insediamenti a carattere polivalente. La stesura di un masterplan rispondente alle richieste del concorso ha poi portato a considerare utile e strategica la creazione di un polo sportivo polifunzionale (in parte convenzionato) e ad individuare alcune necessità strutturali tipiche della tipologia edilizia. Poiché il PalaNorda (l’attuale palazzetto dello sport a Bergamo) risulta essere una struttura inadatta agli attuali impegni sportivi che vi vengono svolti sia in termini di posti a sedere sia anche in termini di servizi offerti agli utenti, il comune di Bergamo ha deciso di allocare in questa zona un nuovo centro polifunzionale che riesca a soddisfare i fabbisogni cittadini sia in ambito sportivo, sia di intrattenimento al coperto (concerti e mostre) ma allo stesso tempo anche commerciale. Il palazzetto dello sport che qui viene presentato è il risultato di una serie di studi su edifici esistenti, normative tecniche e programmi ministeriali, mixati con le tecnologie costruttive e impiantistiche utili al raggiungimento di alte prestazioni energetiche, termo-igrometriche ed acustiche negli edifici. Il risultato di questo lavoro è il PalaOrobic, un palazzetto dello sport che non vuole essere un semplice contenitore per eventi sportivi utilizzato una volta la settimana, bensì un nuovo centro di attrazione sportivo-culturale per la città di Bergamo, in grado di offrire un mix di funzioni che vanno dai semplici eventi sportivi e culturali, ai servizi di commercio di vicinato e attività per il tempo libero usufruibili dai residenti nelle zone limitrofe. Un edificio “vivo” 24h su 24h tutta la settimana. Una struttura che possa essere raggiunta in treno, pullman, bus, bici e a piedi; ma che sia anche connesso con le principali strade interurbane della città e il vicino aeroporto “il Caravaggio” di Orio al Serio.
