PLM nelle imprese italiane : dal concetto all'adozione dei sistemi IT

PLM is a concept that has already reached an high maturity degree, although its appearance in industrial world is quite recent. A lot of people studied this phenomenon and wrote about it. Many case studies have already been brought to the attention of the literature to be an example of excellence or failure of the approach and implementation of the technology. From a theoretical point of view, benefits that accompany PLM approach are clear in the modern industrial contest. Despite of it, there are a lot of enterprises which don’t rely on this practice yet. Being a part of the wider analysis carried out by GeCo Observatory concerning new product development process, this thesis aim at analyzing the presence of connections between the product lifecycle vision of an enterprise and the support that the existing PLM systems provide them. At first, with a study on the interviewed enterprise sample, variables with the higher impact on the lifecycle vision of the organization have been evaluated. Then, thanks to the proposed schema in this work, the presence of any possible behavior has been analyzed to find some of them that may guide the adoption of PLM system in an organization.

Il PLM è un concetto che, sebbene la sua comparsa nel mondo industriale sia piuttosto recente, ha già raggiunto un certo grado di maturità. Un gran numero di persone hanno studiato il fenomeno e hanno scritto riguardo ad esso. Molti casi di studio sono stati portati all’attenzione della letteratura come eccellenze o fallimenti nell’approccio a questa innovazione. Da un punto di vista teorico, gli effetti di questo approccio nella realtà industriale moderna sono chiari. Nonostante ciò, sono ancora molte le imprese che non fanno affidamento su questa pratica. Inserendosi nell’analisi della più ampia ricerca dell’Osservatorio GeCo riguardante il processo di sviluppo prodotto, questo lavoro di tesi vuole analizzare il legame che sussiste tra la visione del ciclo di vita di prodotto ha un’impresa e il supporto che forniscono i software PLM a questa. Dapprima, con un’analisi del campione di imprese intervistate, sono state valutate le variabili ad alto impatto sulla componente ciclo di vita del prodotto, per poi valutare, tramite l’applicazione di uno schema proposto, la presenza di eventuali comportamenti guida che spieghino il fenomeno di adozione di tali sistemi nell’organizzazione.
