Assessment and improvement of MRO : the case of a white goods manufacturer

What is proposed in this thesis is a methodology applied to a case study in order to understand what are the critical issues of change and the most effective approaches for a real and profitable improvement of MRO management. The work presented firstly defines what are the complexity and the reasons underlying the need for a thorough analysis to reconstruct a frame of the AS IS and this have been done not in a superficial way, but with a careful and critical evaluation of the practices currently used and the scaffolding of data and information that support the structure and activity of maintenance. It has been shown that it is possible to overcome the obvious gaps that exist between the real management of MRO and management inspired by Best Practices, and this can be done not only through the support of a proven methodology, but also with a framework decision voted to a perspective of continuous improvement

Quello che viene proposto in questa tesi è una metodologia applicata ad un caso di studio che permetta di capire quali siano le criticità di cambiamento e gli approcci maggiormente efficaci per un reale e proficuo miglioramento della gestione degli MRO. Il lavoro presentato definisce innanzitutto quali sono le complessità e le motivazioni sottostanti la necessità di una profonda analisi volta a ricostruire un riquadro non superficiale della situazione attuale, bensì una valutazione attenta e critica delle pratiche correntemente utilizzate e dell’impalcatura di dati ed informazioni che reggono la struttura e le attività di manutenzione.Si è voluto mostrare che è possibile superare gli evidenti gap che sussistono tra la gestione reale degli MRO e la gestione ispirata alle Best Practices, e che è possibile farlo non solo grazie al supporto di una metodologia qui sperimentata, ma anche per mezzo di un framework decisionale votato ad una prospettiva di continuo miglioramento.
