Gurney flap : analisi teorico-sperimentale

This thesis studies the behaviour from the aerodynamic point of view of the Gurney flap, an aerodynamic appendage located near the trailing edge of an aerofoil or wing with the purpose of modifying the curves of the coefficient of lift by increasing the maximum lift coefficient but also introducing an additional resistance still be estimated correctly. Proceed starting from a critical analysis of the articles of literature regarding this type of flap then developed in the aerodynamic laboratory CLASD measurements of the coefficients of lift, drag and pitching moment through experimental tests on 2D profile NACA 0012.

Questa tesi studia il comportamento dal punto di vista aerodinamico del Gurney flap, un‟appendice aerodinamica posta in prossimità del bordo d‟uscita di profili con lo scopo di modificare le curve del coefficiente di portanza aumentando il coefficiente di portanza massimo ma introducendo anche una resistenza aggiuntiva ancora oggi da stimare correttamente. Si procede partendo da un‟analisi critica degli articoli di letteratura riguardanti questo tipo di flap per poi sviluppare nel laboratorio aerodinamico CLASD rilevazioni dei coefficienti di portanza, resistenza e momento di beccheggio tramite prove sperimentali su profilo 2D NACA 0012.
