Abstract
The assessment of the acceptability of defects within compressor/turbine disks of a gas turbine is strongly influenced by thermomechanical stress to which different parts of several disks are subjected. The present thesis deals with the stress conditions typical of two specific situations identified among the overall possibilities, in order to investigate them experimentally. The first case considered corresponds to ’igh gradients of mechanical stress with negligible thermal stresses, a condition identifiable at blade attachment of the first compressor disks; the experimental part consists of ad hoc tests, analysed using current crack propagation models in the elastic range basing on elastic-plastic and elastic FEM results. The second case considered is characterized by uniform mechanical stress at high operating temperatures, the typical loading condition of the hub of the turbine disks; the experimental approach was based on LCF tests at high temperature, analyzed with elasto-plastic propagation models.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
