Calcolo semplificato di edifici in zona sismica di bassa sismicità. Analisi e valutazione critica

This thesis is devoted to the analysis of the simplification in the calculations, which the Italian Structural design Code allows for buildings located in Seismic zone 4, corresponding to a very low seismicity level. To achieve the goal, a typical reference structure, consisting of a reinforced concrete frame, was used. At the beginning, an analysis of the loads to which the structure could be subjected was carried out, based on the components of a typical building envelope. The structure has, therefore, been preliminarily sized for vertical actions. Then the horizontal static forces resulting from seismic action have been investigated and the structure has been revised according to the new stress levels. Once the dimensions of the structural elements had been defined, two types of stress analysis have been carried out: the first as required by the law in relation to the simplification, while the second through a more rigorous method, namely the modal analysis with response spectrum. The two methods of analysis were then compared with reference to the level of stress, deformation and other useful aspects in order to analyze the simplified calculation method. In the conclusions, based of the analyses carried out, some aspects that in the Code appear unclear have been discussed and specified.

L’ argomentazione della tesi in oggetto è basata fondamentalmente sull’ analisi della semplificazione di calcolo attuabile per edifici posti in zona sismica 4, così come previsto dalle Norme Tecniche delle Costruzioni del 2008. Per affrontare la trattazione ci si è serviti di una struttura ipotetica in cemento armato a telaio. E’ stata svolta inizialmente un’analisi dei carichi di cui la struttura potrebbe essere soggetta considerando gli elementi d’involucro più tipici. Conseguentemente la struttura è stata preliminarmente dimensionata soggetta alle azioni verticali. In seguito si sono indagate l’entità delle forze statiche orizzontali scaturite dall’azione sismica e la struttura è stata rielaborata secondo l’occorrenza. Definite con esattezza le dimensioni degli elementi strutturali sono state svolti due tipi di analisi delle sollecitazioni. La prima, secondo quanto prescritto dalla normativa in merito alla semplificazione, mentre la seconda, attraverso un metodo più rigoroso, ossia quella dell’analisi modale spaziale con spettro di risposta. Successivamente sono stati confrontati i due metodi di analisi in merito all’entità delle sollecitazioni, delle deformazioni nonché di altri aspetti utili ad analizzare il metodo di calcolo semplificato. Si è giunti quindi alle conclusioni, in dipendenza alle analisi effettuate, precisando alcuni aspetti che nella normativa sono posti in maniera non del tutto chiara.
