The purpose of this work is to present a project concerned with the construction of housing blocks in a Mediterranean climate, environment involving a sustainable and innovative approach, by the next suburb of Torremaggiore in the province of Foggia. In a time when the envinonmental issue is increasingly debated and source of new regulations, the design process requires taking into account how to save energy. The rise of a new peripheral area in Torremaggiore was an opportunity to focus the analysis on a specific case of a block with a courtyard terraced arrangement including more housing units. In planning the design a number of steps have been considered. First the ascertainment on the local site provided all the essential information to develop a skilful design fit for taking advantage of the physical context. After the setting up of the architectural design with the definition of the distributive and structural characteristics strategies for the passive exploitation of natural resources, true proposals to reduce energy consumption were conducted. This has been performed mainly in three different fields: the design of highly efficient installations, the introduction of alternative energy supports, such as solar thermal energy and a careful control of the performance features of the envelope building. The design criteria and the choice of materials aim to obtain the Energy Class A+ ( Casa Clima Bolzano: power consuption less than 30 kwh/m2 year). The building system combines the exterior wall with portions of laminated wood white painted, with exterior insulation made of hemp wood. The uneveness of the material to the local tradition led to alternate wood exposed surfaces with large portions of white plaster on the cowling, obtaning an even building in the local context . Of particular interest is the irradiating air conditioning system made of a plaster radiant heating system encased in the ceiling, useful both in winter and summer. A system capable of reducing moisture, integrating and renewing the inside air, ensures a high degree of comfort both in summer and winter condition. The casing has excellent performance both in insulation and thermal phase lag and in middle seasons harnesses of cross wind ensured by the excellent orientation and by the openings of the frontage and the roof windows.

Abstract
The casing has excellent performance both in insulation and thermal phase lag and in middle seasons harnesses of cross wind ensured by the excellent orientation and by the openings of the frontage and the roof windows.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
