Buffer allocation problem is important issue for manufacturing systems in order to increase the performance of the system. In this project buffer allocation problem has been researched in manufacturing systems for conveying the importance of the optimal buffer allocation within the production flow lines. Some review papers and articles were analyzed in order to get familiar with buffer allocation problem. This project involves flow line modeling, flow line characteristics related with buffer allocation, traditional performance measures. Also project includes traditional performance evaluation methods and most common techniques for buffer allocation problem. Analysis of existing studies was performed and finally critical conclusions were deduced in the last part.
