Vietnam's pavilion. Expo 2015 Milano

The international Expo 2015 will be hosted in Milan from 1st May to 31st October,2015. This will be the second time that Milan will host an Expo after the first one, about a century ago, in 1906. The theme of this event will be: Feeding the Planet - Energy for life, which will inspire nations to bring their tradition, creativity and innovation into the food business. The Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China, marked the first time that Vietnam had its own independent pavilion. It was officially announced that Vietnam will participate again at the Expo 2015. With its long history of an agricultural culture, Vietnam is expected to be a promising partner. Taking that into account, a competition was launched, among domestic architects, to seek a proposal for Vietnam’s pavilion. The two events mentioned above, were the influences and the inspirations for my thesis. It was a quite challenging approach, taking the Vietnamese traditional architecture as a base point, transforming it into a contemporary one. The fact that has to be a temporary building, it became a even bigger challenge, since it has to represent not only, Vietnam's rich culture, but also the true essence of the Vietnamese people. Finally, without any doubts, this work was also a chance for me to understand deeper my own culture.

L' Expo 2015 internazionale sarà ospitata a Milano dal 1 maggio al 31 ottobre, 2015. Questa sarà la seconda volta che Milano ospiterà una Expo dopo la prima, circa un secolo fa, nel 1906. Il tema di questo evento sarà: Nutrire il pianeta - Energia per la vita, che ispirerà le nazioni a portare la loro tradizione, creatività e innovazione nel settore alimentare. L'Expo 2010 a Shanghai, in Cina, ha segnato la prima volta che il Vietnam ha avuto un padiglione indipendente. E 'stato ufficialmente annunciato che il Vietnam parteciperà nuovamente presso l'Expo 2015. Con la sua lunga storia di una cultura agricola, il Vietnam dovrebbe essere un competitor promettente. È stato appena lanciato un concorso, tra gli architetti nazionali, per trovare una proposta per il padiglione del Vietnam. I due eventi sopra citati, sono state le influenze e ispirazioni per la mia tesi. E 'stato un approccio abbastanza impegnativo, prendendo l'architettura tradizionale vietnamita come punto base, trasformandola in un linguaggio contemporaneo. Il fatto che deve essere un edificio temporaneo, è diventato una sfida ancora più grande, dato che deve rappresentare non solo, la ricca cultura del Vietnam, ma anche la vera essenza del popolo vietnamita. Infine, senza alcun dubbio, questo lavoro è stato anche l'occasione per me di capire più a fondo la mia propria cultura.
