The project’s appearence is a clear reference at the construction sites’ world; thus the design intervention demonstrates that in the city of L’Aquila is it possible to find dynamic, operating and functional building sites that can bring this fabulous town back to life, thanks to a rebirth of its social and economic liveliness.

Abstract
This report is going to display how the destiny of L’Aquila city could concretely be changed, thanks to an efficient and totally doable project. The capital of Abruzzo region, as everyone knows, has completely been destroyed by the earthquake of the 6th april 2009; from then on, city’s streets are desert, buildings are forsaken, and construction sites, that were suppose to re-buid the town, are definitely closed down. While waiting to return in their houses, L’Aquila’s citizens don’t give up and keep on trying to bestow new life on the city, by organizing social activities and initiatives, such as looking for a new site where the ancient square market could move. This market is, indeed, a real and stable institution of L’Aquila city but now, after the earthquake, it’s bad-situated, miles away from the city center. Mercato in corso has the aim of offer a different and more suitable point of view for this city landmark, trying to replace the so called “earthquake turism” with an aware tourist traffic; in this way architectural tresures, town’s history and traditional products will be revealed. The project’s appearence is a clear reference at the construction sites’ world; thus the design intervention demonstrates that in the city of L’Aquila is it possible to find dynamic, operating and functional building sites that can bring this fabulous town back to life, thanks to a rebirth of its social and economic liveliness.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
