La moda e il tempo. Intrecci di maglia tra creazione e distruzione, proiezione al futuro e ritorno al passato

Time. For how much time can we talk about a thing without any dimension, out of any control? Endlessly, I think. We can do so many things in Time, with Time, but not on Time. We cannot act on time. But some wonders do exist, and Fashion is one of them, cause she avails Time while she articulates it, by marking the succession of seasons, years and ages with her changements. A fascinating dialogue between Time and Fashion that’s also a fight, a battle for control on things and events. To control Time through Fashion, this is the challenge. With clothes that carry all signs of the passing of time, with strong, multiform and embracing matter, with processes handed down for ages and kept intact by experienced hands. UnRavel is a knitting challenge, that teases Time and plays with him. What better than knitting can exist, resist and mark Time? The strong twist of an endless yarn created to resist, and an only (weak?) point that can destroy everything in a single moment. UnRavel is a coloured twist made to be pulled, that drags the whole cloth and upsets rules. Because unravel means to destroy, cancel and devert the flowing of the events, but also to create the chance to redo, to create some time for ourselves and our ideas, and, more than everything, it means to feel time while he’s flowing on a wooly yarn.

Tempo. Per quanto ci si può dilungare a parlare di un’entità che non ha dimensione, che non ha controllo, che non lascia all’uomo possibilità di azione alcuna su di esso? Io direi, all’infinito. Si possono fare moltissime cose nel tempo, col tempo, ma non sul tempo. Non si agisce sul tempo. Esistono tuttavia poche meraviglie artificiali capaci in qualche modo di impossessarsene, e la moda è una di queste, perché si serve del tempo mentre allo stesso modo lo caratterizza e sembra quasi scandirlo, segnando il susseguirsi di stagioni, anni ed epoche attraverso i propri cambiamenti. Un dialogo affascinante, quello tra moda e tempo, un conflitto, una contraddizione, una lotta per il controllo delle cose e degli eventi Questa è la sfida, controllare il tempo attraverso la moda. Con abiti che non vengano trascinati via dalle stagioni ma che le portino addosso con tutti i loro segni, abiti significati dal tempo, che il tempo arricchisce e non sdrucisce. Con materia resistente, multiforme, buona ed avvolgente, con tecniche tramandate per secoli e rimaste intatte, con intrecci sapienti e forti, con mani abili e veloci. Unravel è una sfida di maglia, un prendersi gioco del tempo ma insieme un giocare ad assecondarlo. Cosa meglio della maglieria può esistere, resistere e segnare il tempo? Il solido intreccio di un filo infinito fatto apposta per durare, e un unico punto (debole?) che può distruggere tutto in un istante. Unravel è un giro colorato da tirare, che si trascina dietro tutto il capo e che rovescia le regole. Perchè disfare qui significa distruggere, cancellare e invertire lo scorrere degli eventi, ma anche creare l’occasione di rifare, creare del tempo per sé stessi e per le proprie idee e, più di tutto, imparare a percepire il tempo mentre scorre su un filo di lana.
