In the city of Beijing, the urban fabric is now characterized by the contrast between the modern and the ancient, that is slowly disappearing. To preserve the typical hutongs is considered necessary, in order to strengthen their identity within the urban context. The research, focused in the area of Dashilar, aims on improving the life quality of the residents through the redesign of the Tiān Táo Guǎng dà Market, a place that provides an opportunity to create active public space, that inhabitants can temporary occupy and use according to their needs, thus generating a space able to accommodate mixed functions and bring together different people.
Il tessuto urbano di Pechino è caratterizzato dal contrasto tra moderno e antico, ormai in rapida scomparsa. Per sottrarre gli Hutong da questa preoccupante realtà è importante rafforzarne l'identità urbana, migliorando le condizioni sociali attraverso la riprogettazione degli spazi comunitari. La ricerca, focalizzata sull'area del Dashilar, illustra l'importanza nel quartiere del mercato Tiān Táo Guǎng dà, interpretato come un'opportunità per creare uno spazio pubblico attivo, che gli abitanti possono utilizzare in maniera a seconda delle esigenze.
