Un nuovo campus urbano : progetto di espansione dell'Ateneo Luigi Bocconi

The project follows the directions of the competition for students organized by the University L. Bocconi for the future expansion of its campus on the area of the ex Centrale del Latte. The intervention takes shape on a plot of about 35,000 square meters and includes the creation of a park of about 17000 square meters dedicated to the community and to the University of Milan, the new building of the School of Management, a Bocconi Store and a Bocconi Cafetteria, a Recreation Center and a residential tower for resident students and visiting professors. The volumes are arranged according to the detection area of ​​a pattern formed by the orthogonal east-west axis, connecting Parco Baravalle and Parco Ravizza, and the North-South axis from the existing campus, forming the front along Via Castelbarco (as far as the SDA, the Rec Center and the Bocconi Store), or continuing the built along Via Castiglioni (Bocconi Dorms). These tracks structure the settlement system of the new intervention without creating a gap between the built and the park: the new system of green areas is structured and integrated with the volumes of the new university buildings lowered by courts connected by “space filter “as the great Cafetteria. The axes of the project organize Park into three bands, each with a different function: in the south one there are the sports fields related to the REC Center, the central one has the glass volume of the swimming pool which comes out of the ground and in the end the north one is characterized by a descent green which if necessary can be used as an amphitheater. The SDA is divided into two independent volumes, with access to the ground floor respectively on Via Sarfatti and the extension of Via Tantardini, which, at the level of the court lowered, host functions open to the public as the two large classrooms 150 and 300 seats and on the upper floors, the spaces for teaching classrooms with 45 to 100 seats, as well as departments and offices. Above ground the two bodies are connected by suspension bridges designed to accommodate areas dedicated to the single and group study. The entire complex has bricks and curtain wall on the fronts with the exception of the bridges of the School of Mangament which, seen as exceptional items that stand apart from the rigid orthogonal orientation of the entire master plan, has a different treatment in brick panels , a warm and natural material, which well reflects the key concepts of the entire masterplan.

Il progetto segue le indicazione del bando di Concorso per studenti promosso dall’Università L. Bocconi per la futura espansione del proprio Campus sull’area dell’ex Centrale del Latte. L’intervento prende corpo su un lotto di circa 35000 mq e prevede la creazione di un parco di circa 17000 mq dedicato sia alla comunità milanese sia all’ateneo, della nuova sede della School of Management (Scuola di Direzione Aziendale), di un Bocconi Store e di una Bocconi Cafetteria, di un Recreation Center e di una torre residenziale per studenti fuori sede e visiting professors. I volumi si dispongono sull’area secondo l’individuazione di uno schema ortogonale formato dall’asse Est-Ovest, collegante il Parco Baravalle e il Parco Ravizza, e dagli assi Nord-Sud provenienti dal Campus esistente, andando a formare il fronte lungo Via Castelbarco (per quanto riguarda la SDA, il Rec Center e il Bocconi Store), o proseguendo il costruito lungo Via Castiglioni (Bocconi Dorms). Tali tracciati strutturano l’impianto insediativo del nuovo intervento senza tuttavia costituire una cesura tra il costruito ed il parco: il nuovo sistema di aree verdi si articola e si integra con i volumi dei nuovi edifici universitari tramite corti ribassate collegate tra loro tramite “spazi filtro” come la grande Cafetteria. Gli assi di progetto organizzano il parco in tre fasce, ciascuna con una diversa funzione: quella a Sud ospita i campi sportivi legati al REC Center, quella centrale presenta il volume vetrato della piscina che sbuca dal terreno ed infine quella a Nord è caratterizzata da una discesa verde che all’occorrenza può essere usata come anfiteatro. La SDA si articola in due volumi indipendenti, con accesso al piano terra rispettivamente su Via Sarfatti e sul prolungamento di Via Tantardini, che, al livello della corte ribassata, ospitano le funzioni aperte al pubblico come le due grandi aule da 150 e 300 posti e, ai piani superiori, gli spazi per la didattica con aule da 45 a 100 posti, oltre a dipartimenti e uffici. Fuori terra i due corpi sono collegati da ponti sospesi destinati ad ospitare aree dedicate allo studio e al soggiorno degli studenti. L’intero complesso si presenta con un rivestimento di facciata in doghe in cotto e curtain wall ad eccezione dei ponti della School of Mangament che, intesi come elementi eccezionali che si distaccano dal rigido orientamento ortogonale dell’intero masterplan, presentano un diverso trattamento in pannelli, anch’essi in cotto, un materiale caldo e naturale, che ben riflette i concetti cardine dell’intero masterplan.
