Abstract
The advance of technology together with a steady demand for quality improvement require a detailed study of each item composing a machine. Hydrodynamic bearings, in particular, when applied to rotating machines are influencing their stability and if they are not correctly designed can cause problems of vibrations and shorten the machine lifespan. Hence the importance of studying their mechanical working in relation to the machine on which they are going to be installed. This work provides for the elaboration of a numerical model referred to this kind of bearings by means of a marketed multiphysics element finite software in order to evaluate the adequacy of the software and the influence of various physical phenomena on bearings performances at steady state condition. Once the model has been appointed, stiffness coefficients have been issued enabling an improved accuracy in the simulation of the overall dynamics of the rotating machine.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
