Una utopia ? La Grande Mantova

Mantova, San Giorgio, Porto Mantovano, Curtatone and Virgilio are the five municipalities that make up the territory of the Great Mantua. The thesis proposes the aim of understanding what are the aspects that still hinder the formation of a unique vision. It is important to start from the assumption that unite the towns does not necessarily mean form a single municipality, but it means above all unite intent. The key to understanding this possible union is in the meaning of the term “community”: the identity of the individual municipalities tell a single story of the territory. The analysis started from the study of the various interpretations that have been given the project of Grande Mantova. This has highlighted the issues that are yet to discuss, such as the distrust between the municipalities and the alibi of the great works. The interviews with the Mayors and Technicians government, and the questionnaires proposed to the citizens and students, have described the daily aspects of the city, the problems but also the positive actions. The proposal to form the Grande Mantova is based on the priority of remedial action which will help to solve those problems that are common to all and which may encourage the formation of networks of relationships, to interconnect all the inhabited places, trying to also use those empty that today we find both in the historical center and in the surrounding countryside. Starting from actions that affect everyone, you will also face big problems. the Great Mantova is a utopia? Maybe not.

Mantova, San Giorgio, Porto Mantovano, Curtatone e Virgilio sono i cinque Comuni che formano il territorio della Grande Mantova. La tesi si ripropone l’obiettivo di capire quali sono gli aspetti che tutt’oggi ostacolano la formazione di una visione unica. Importante è partire dal presupposto che unire i Comuni non significa per forza formare un unico Comune, ma significa soprattutto unire gli intenti. La chiave di lettura di questa possibile unione si trova nel significato del termine “comunità”: le identità dei singoli Comuni raccontano un’unica storia del territorio. L’analisi è partita dallo studio delle varie interpretazioni che sono state date sul progetto della Grande Mantova. Questo ha messo in evidenza le questioni che fanno ancora discutere, come la diffidenza tra i Comuni e l’alibi delle grandi opere. Le interviste fatte ai Sindaci e ai Tecnici delle Amministrazioni, e i questionari proposti ai cittadini e agli studenti, hanno descritto gli aspetti quotidiani della città, le problematiche ma anche le azioni positive realizzate. La proposta di formare la Grande Mantova si basa sulla priorità di intervenire con azioni che contribuiscano a risolvere quei problemi che accomunano tutti e che possono favorire la formazione di reti di relazioni, per mettere in connessione tutti i luoghi abitati, cercando di utilizzare anche quei vuoti che oggi troviamo sia nel centro storico che nella campagna circostante. Partendo da azioni che interessano tutti, si potranno affrontare anche i grandi problemi. è una utopia la Grande Mantova? Forse no.
