Towards the collective space. Housing forms for metropolis of Milan

The thesis work presented consists of two essential parts, drawings and a written essay. It is concieved on two levels, first being the territory and the second one being the house. Two territories have been analysed, low flatlands of Lombardy and Flanders with the emphasis put on their peri-urban areas. The condition recognized there could be summarized as a ‘chaotic intertwining’ of artificial and natural environment. This thesis embraces this condition. It seeks to identify the right questions within the domain of collective housing more than it is trying to provide answers. A comprehensive analysis of both single-family and collective housing typologies throughout history of architecture has been carried out. It is meant to be a research on social factors gathered around these typologies that have lead towards their formation and evolution.

Lavoro di tesi presentato è costituito da due parti essenziali, disegni e un relazione scritta. Ci sono due tracciati di pensiero, primo sul livello dell’ territorio e secondo quello della casa. Due territori sono stati analizzati, pianure della Lombardia e Fiandra, con l’enfasi sulle aree periurbane. La condizione accertata può essere sintetizzata come un ‘caotico intreccio’ dell’ambiente artificiale e quello naturale. Questa tesi comprende questa condizione. Si sta cercando di porre le domande giuste all’interno del dominio dei alloggi collettivi più che cercare di dare delle risposte. è stata eseguita una analisi delle tipologie abitative unifamiliari e collettive nel corso della storia di architettura. Si tratta di una ricerca sui fattori sociali che hanno dato forma a queste tipologie.
