The ferrite phase of the biphasic steel grade UNS S32760 is characterized by some heterogeneous micro-constituents. This study will essentially focus on the influence the heat treatment has on the microstructure, considering the correlation between the features of the microstructure itself and the mechanical properties, in particular the impact energy at -46°C. The solution annealing at 1120°C reveals an evolution of the microstructure in time, but no correlation between the heterogeneity and the impact test results seems to be present. Moreover, the phenomenon of the spinodal decomposition of the ferrite caused by the so called “475°C embrittlement” is studied by some micro-hardness and impact tests and by some heat treatments at 475°C. It was confirmed that there is a relation between the high hardness and the low resilience values that can characterize the investigated material.

Abstract
It was confirmed that there is a relation between the high hardness and the low resilience values that can characterize the investigated material.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
