This thesis relates to space robotics and has been developed thanks to Selex ES support and experience in space technology. More in detail, since space robotics deals with many applications, this work will focus on the fast sampling of low gravity bodies. The thesis will propose some active force control strategies on a manipulator that has to perform a drilling task, evaluate their characteristics and establish which solution has the best performances. The need to evaluate the innovative strategies effectiveness within this area derives from MARCOPOLO-R program, which belongs to missions devoted to fast sampling of ground in an extraterrestrial environment. The dissertation will explain, compare and implement three control strategies, showing the best solution chosen on the basis of experimental results obtained fulfilling real mission requirements.

Abstract
This thesis relates to space robotics and has been developed thanks to Selex ES support and experience in space technology. More in detail, since space robotics deals with many applications, this work will focus on the fast sampling of low gravity bodies. The thesis will propose some active force control strategies on a manipulator that has to perform a drilling task, evaluate their characteristics and establish which solution has the best performances. The need to evaluate the innovative strategies effectiveness within this area derives from MARCOPOLO-R program, which belongs to missions devoted to fast sampling of ground in an extraterrestrial environment. The dissertation will explain, compare and implement three control strategies, showing the best solution chosen on the basis of experimental results obtained fulfilling real mission requirements.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
