Interpretare il lavoro. Progetto di un sistema arredo per uffici cinesi

My thesis deals with cross-cultural analysis, in particular related to the theme of work, equipment and infrastructure that support it. The aim is to understand the cultural differences that govern the furnishing system and accessories that characterized the structure of the office. The greater the distance the more efficient the intercultural relation is. The distance and the opportunity of a research developed in collaboration with N.U.S.T. for a Chinese furniture company, has allowed me to reflect on the qualities and characteristics of this furniture with interpreting the italian sensibility and style. What is clear is the furniture product should adapt to a closed but large society as that of China, to a diversity of roles in a office space, and a way often deeply antithetical to live space, the relationship with the others and, finally, the time dimension. The result of my work is a office furniture collection that, from a Western sensibility, identifies some possible paths of interpretation designed for chinese office.

La tesi in questione si occupa di analisi interculturale, in particolare riferite al tema del lavoro, delle attrezzature e infrastrutture che lo supportano. L’obiettivo è di provare a comprendere le differenze di matrice culturale che regolano i sistemi di arredo e complementi che sono a supporto del lavoro. Il confronto tra culture del resto è tanto più efficiente quanto maggiore è la distanza tra culture. Questo aspetto di distanza e l’occasione di una ricerca sviluppata in collaborazione con la Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) per un’azienda di arredo cinese mi ha consentito di riflettere sulle qualità e sulle caratteristiche di questo arredo interpretandolo con la sensibilità italiana. Quello che è evidente è che il prodotto arredo si debba adattare ad una società chiusa e vasta come quella cinese, ad un diversità tra i ruoli all’interno dello spazio ufficio, ed un modo spesso profondamente antitetico di vivere lo spazio, la relazione con gli altri e la dimensione del tempo. Il risultato è una collezione di mobili per ufficio che partendo da una sensibilità occidentale individua alcuni possibili percorsi di interpretazione utili per il progetto di un ufficio cinese.
