The present work is collocated in the low CO2 emission power generation area. The technology presented is called Ca-Looping process, and consists of the adsorption of the carbon dioxide from the combustion gases by its capture with a Ca-Based sorbent (carbonation reaction). Then the reverse reaction takes place (calcinations reaction), and a pure and ready for the storage CO2 flow is released. The thesis deals with the modeling of the fluidized bed reactor where the carbonation reaction takes place, called carbonator, considering a kinetic and fluid dynamic model. The results obtained show a good agreement with both pilot scale plant experimental data and values from the utilization of simplified model proposed in literature; furthermore they demonstrate the feasibility of the employment of the treated technology for the large scale CO2 capture.

Abstract
The present work is collocated in the low CO2 emission power generation area. The technology presented is called Ca-Looping process, and consists of the adsorption of the carbon dioxide from the combustion gases by its capture with a Ca-Based sorbent (carbonation reaction). Then the reverse reaction takes place (calcinations reaction), and a pure and ready for the storage CO2 flow is released. The thesis deals with the modeling of the fluidized bed reactor where the carbonation reaction takes place, called carbonator, considering a kinetic and fluid dynamic model. The results obtained show a good agreement with both pilot scale plant experimental data and values from the utilization of simplified model proposed in literature; furthermore they demonstrate the feasibility of the employment of the treated technology for the large scale CO2 capture.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
