This thesis places itself in the branch of research regarding the Risk Management, which is rapidly growing in importance in many companies and business sectors. In such context, the present thesis aims to understand the emerging trends in the Risk Management field, proposing an operational risk management model for analyzing, managing and monitoring risks and opportunities faced by organizations. This work suggests an analysis methodology to deploy the company risk management system (a case study method was utilized to analyze a company belonging to the Engineering & Contracting sector), identifying the operational elements that project-based organisations should consider to manage risks and opportunities in a holistic and integrated way. Moreover, the present work represents one of the few attempts to apply Enterprise Risk Management concepts and tools within an operative context, underlining the real benefits of such integrated risk management vision.
