The thesis hereby presented, studies and analyzes several solutions for structural health monitoring systems, in particular for Fiber Bragg Grating sensors. The work done can be separated into 2 main parts, the first part deals with the study and analysis of a new heuristic numerical method that allows for the determination of the strain field along the sensor, without having to go through complex research algorithms and with the objective of reducing computing time, in order to come closer to a real real-time solution. The second part is concerned with one application for such type of sensors, and involves the realization and testing of a fiber optics strain measurement device which can withstand strain fields well over the fiber optics mechanical limits.

Abstract
The thesis hereby presented, studies and analyzes several solutions for structural health monitoring systems, in particular for Fiber Bragg Grating sensors. The work done can be separated into 2 main parts, the first part deals with the study and analysis of a new heuristic numerical method that allows for the determination of the strain field along the sensor, without having to go through complex research algorithms and with the objective of reducing computing time, in order to come closer to a real real-time solution. The second part is concerned with one application for such type of sensors, and involves the realization and testing of a fiber optics strain measurement device which can withstand strain fields well over the fiber optics mechanical limits.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
