Ilva di Taranto is a steelmaking enterprise. The steelmaking process is based on transformation of the molten pig iron from blast furnace to steel, that is performed by the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF). In order to reduce the environmental impact, tests are conducted to evaluate the use of HBI (Hot Briquetted Iron) obtained with alternative technologies exploiting the natural gas. As a support of the tests the development of a thermal analysis has been performed, through the estimation of oxidation energy and the overall chemical energy used for the process. There is also a study of the gas emitted during the conversion and the measurement of the temperature trend, in order to realize a thermodynamic analysis of the process based on the oxygen potentials. This work aims at studying the possible increase of the HBI in BOF and its effects on the chemical reactions involved in the BOF.

Abstract
This work aims at studying the possible increase of the HBI in BOF and its effects on the chemical reactions involved in the BOF.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
