Requalification and transformation of Porta Genova district

The thesis project is mainly focused on three aspects of Urban Transformation, Water Architecture and Public Space. The area that the project has been placed is “Porta Genova” neighborhood which is one of the most important areas of the city Milan. The importance of this district is in one hand because of the water canals and “Darsena” water basin and on the other hand the neighborhood of “Zona Tortona” and design and fashion industry in this area. The existing situation of the site is an old train station which is an obstacle and limit for the area and it’s going to be decommissioned in the near future and leave a void to the city. By considering all these opportunities and challenges, the project aims to redefine the territory by implementing new water basin integrated with green public spaces which can increase the quality of the area not only in the manner of landscape but also the architecture, by designing library and museum to improve the cultural aspect of the area.
