The topic of this thesis is the contactless measurement of distance and displacement by means of a laser source. Specifically, it is analyzing the measurement of vibration, relative and absolute, for the monitoring of structures, modeling of modal maps and/or the study of the dynamics of vibrating bodies. The target resolution is in the order of nanometers, and a bandwidth of operation that extends from tens of Hz to kHz. The purpose of this thesis is to study, through modeling in Matlab / Simulink, and then realize a laser vibrometer with self-mixing technique that is competitive in the market. Both for the performance, such as resolution and sensitivity, and for its reduced cost of production.
