The purpose of this work is getting a hint on how a careful gauge of physical and geometrical parameters could promote an irreversibility generation optimization.Four different processes have been analyzed as a possible source of irreversibility inside the plant: heat conduction inside fuel pins; heat convective exchange between fuel pins and coolant; pressure drops inside refrigerant flow channels; neutron diffusion inside and outside the core Moreover, in the case of a BWR, where two-phase calculation is mandatory, the evaluation of entropy generated by the second and the third phenomena just mentioned can be performed in at least four different ways. For each one of these a concise derivation has been presented and the corresponding results have been discussed. The results obtained can then be properly described as a zero-order approximation for a more complete evaluation that will require more specialized and powerful computing units and comprehensive and detailed experimental data repertoires.

Abstract
The results obtained can then be properly described as a zero-order approximation for a more complete evaluation that will require more specialized and powerful computing units and comprehensive and detailed experimental data repertoires.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
