This paper focusses on development of a new brand that produces childrens’ furniture aged between 3 to 6. The first part of the thesis includes studies highlighting psychological, ergonomic, functional and emotional needs of the children aged 3 to 6, to determine overall design restrictions and guidelines. Indicative measures, forms, style, color, materials, fun and educational aspects of prospective designs are reflected through charts and mood boards. Furthermore, a throughout analysis of the rotational molding technology is conducted in order to determine production specific guidelines which cover measures and possible shapes. Furthermore, many different international standards in legal requirements for children furnitures are researched. In order to develop a strong brand with proper products, a market study was also conducted to determine industry best-practices and market structure of childrens’ furniture. In the second part of the thesis, based on the guidelines as discovered in the first part of the thesis, brand producing childrens furniture is developed and several designs are proposed. The final part of the thesis is a conclusion of the studies, the work done and potential future studies.
Questo documento focalizza l'attenzione su un "brand" nuovo che produce prodotti per bambini tra 3-6 anni. La prima parte della tesi include studi che pongono attenzione ai bisogni psicologici, ergonomici, funzionali ed emozionali dei bambini tra 3-6 anni, al fine di stabilire gli orientamenti e le eventuali limitazioni di design. Attraverso grafici e tabelle statistiche sono visualizzate quelle che sono le prospettive di design, le misure indicative, le forme, gli stili, i colori, i materiali, le abitudini, e gli aspetti educativi. Inoltre, si è fatto un'analisi della tecnologia di rotational molding che è stata condotta al fine di determinare orientamenti specifici di produzione, che comprendono misure e forme possibili. Il tutto è stato realizzato seguendo e rispettando gli standard internazionali in materia di arredo per bambini. Al fine di realizzare un brand d'impatto forte, con prodotti adatti; è stato condotto anche uno studio di ciò che rispecchia al meglio il "best-practice" e la struttura del mercato dei mobili per bambini. Nella seconda parte della tesi attraverso diversi disegni si propone di sviluppare l'argomento orientativo della prima parte soprattutto sullo sviluppo del Brand e produzione dei mobili. La parte finale si propone di trarre le conclusioni degli studi e del lavoro svolto senza tralasciare quelle che sono le potenzialità per il Futuro.
