The shadow theatre. A fashion story of PiYing

Abstract of the thesis: The object of my thesis is to valorize a technique or a Chinese tradition – Pi Ying (the Chinese shadow puppetry) – modernize it and let it to communicate in a new way. The first part of the thesis tells the story, the current situation and the future of the Chinese shadow puppetry, unveil the secrets of the shadow puppet making processes. The second part, you will find a fashion project related to the research – The Shadow Theatre – that tells a fashion story of the ancient Chinese shadow puppetry. “The Shadow Theatre” is not only a brand, a fashion collection, it plays a role as platform at the same time, by watching the show, at the same time, you can understand more about this ancient Chinese art form. Riassunto della tesi: L’obiettivo della mia tesi è valorizzare una tecnica oppure una tradizione cinese –Pi Ying (il teatro d’ombre cinese) - attualizzandola e comunicandola in modo nuovo.
