East and North African (MENA) region in a mission to empower the change-makers with the right tools to create social impact. As big and difficult this dream might seem to some, it can be achieved if thought off wisely and strategically. The master key to achieve this dream through a master thesis was the word collaboration. Collaboration is a smart decision when two parties have different, yet complementing, competencies, thereby creating a multidisciplinary team working in the same directions in a mission to achieve that dream. This is when the collaboration with a Dutch Welfare Association called T+HUIS, using design to create educational and enriching neighborhoods for children in Eindhoven, took place. The T+HUIS seeked to spread their wings throughout the MENA region and share their expertise to those who can benefit from it. The collaboration between the T+HUIS and I allowed was a melting pot that mixed the T+HUIS’s practical expertise and Dutch perspective of welfare with my Arab culture and educational background. Hand-in-hand we collaborated with different stakeholders to conduct three pilot projects with different audiences, one in the Netherlands and two in Lebanon. The three pilot projects along with extensive research on design thinking—both in terms of usage and theoretical background of its methodologies comprising of different design thinking processes and tools—brought this dream to its realization phase. After six months of research and prototyping the thesis attained the required material and feedback in order to create a custom-made formula in a mission to introduce design thinking for social impact in the MENA region. This formula took into consideration the culture and nature in MENA, the stakeholders and change-makers to cater, along with the right technique to empower them with the right process and methods.

Abstract
This formula took into consideration the culture and nature in MENA, the stakeholders and change-makers to cater, along with the right technique to empower them with the right process and methods.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
