In a time of increasing cultural interest concerning environmental issues, particularly in reference to the theme of the Universal Exposition, scheduled for 2015 in Milan, the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano is a site of exceptional importance, both natural and cultural. The territory of the Parco Agricolo Sud is an area of environmental and agricultural value, rich in water and vast open spaces, dotted with historical buildings and monuments, centuries-old farmhouses, some of which still active, and ecological trails. With regard to the theme of Expo 2015, "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," the Parco Agricolo Sud is set to become an open-air gym where the issue of nutrition and local farming will be promoted, in reference to issues such as the enhancement of the short distribution chain. This thesis work has been carried out starting with a historical analysis of the territory, which is essential to understand the path that led to the establishment of the park that surrounds suburban Milan from east to west; this is followed by an analysis of the current state of the park, its activities and use, and of the land connected to it, studying its infrastructures, settlements and environment. The analysis continues with the study of planning instruments and plans that deal with the protection and promotion of the park. Finally the analysis of the projects and initiatives in anticipation of Expo 2015 in relation to the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, and a critical investigation of the proposals related to the Park, led to a hypothetical scenario which the Park should follow in order to accomodate the global event, promoting projects that can enhance and add value to the area, even and especially after Expo 2015.

Abstract
Finally the analysis of the projects and initiatives in anticipation of Expo 2015 in relation to the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, and a critical investigation of the proposals related to the Park, led to a hypothetical scenario which the Park should follow in order to accomodate the global event, promoting projects that can enhance and add value to the area, even and especially after Expo 2015.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
