The present work is a survey on two different aspects within the field of uninhabited aircraft. The first part explores the propulsion systems mostly adopted, as they play nowadays a major role in increasing the performance of a drone. Some considerations will be made regarding a particular category, the MALE, due to the fact that they are versatile systems and currently highly sought-after. The second part focuses on investigating the feasibility of a multi rotor drone operating in a GPS-denied industrial environment. After discussing the problem in general, some possible architectures will be proposed and compared. Finally, some different applications where the drone could operate will be shown.

Abstract
The present work is a survey on two different aspects within the field of uninhabited aircraft. The first part explores the propulsion systems mostly adopted, as they play nowadays a major role in increasing the performance of a drone. Some considerations will be made regarding a particular category, the MALE, due to the fact that they are versatile systems and currently highly sought-after. The second part focuses on investigating the feasibility of a multi rotor drone operating in a GPS-denied industrial environment. After discussing the problem in general, some possible architectures will be proposed and compared. Finally, some different applications where the drone could operate will be shown.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
