Abstract
Only on 2013, it is around 30 million the number of homeless people, because of natural and man disasters, in the worldwide. To help these victims different typologies of shelters are designed, trying to find a balance between easy transport, assembly, energy efficiency and low cost. To answer to these needs the research investigates the use of Thermal Reflective Multi-layer System (TRMS). This innovative system, developed from space engineering studies, lightweight and with a conductivity of 0,038 W/mK, gives a technological answer to a good shelter design, in line with international parameters, and suggests the new design of a building prototype component, based on TRMS and low cost materials. Studies of the shelters design, TRMS use in the civil engineering, and case studies, of reconstruction and new, are using to support technical feasibility to use TRMS in the emergency architecture. The conclusion of the thesis is the proposal of Air Shelter House (ASH), a new concept supported from a building component prototype, based on TRMS, to help disaster resilience, ensuring a building system easier to transport, to assembly, and energy efficiency. Combination of TRMS with low cost materials, and 3D printer system for the joint, allows having a balance between cost and quality, according with shelter construction features, for an innovative design to support disaster resilience during Response, Reconstruction and Mitigation phases, using one technology solution only.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
