Load planning is considered as the set of decisions regarding the definition of the optimum configuration and sequencing for loading goods and shipping units onto freight carriers and, in many firms, it represents a key element in the shipment planning process. A lack of efficient means of support for this subject was found when analysing the main variables linked to the management of outbound transport procedures. In particular, it was highlighted that load planning studies referred to situations where the goods are loaded onto means of transport using pallets or parallelepiped shaped loading units. However, these studies do not cover all possible situations. There are some cases in which goods are loaded in bulk that is without regard for parallelepipedal shape. In such cases, load planning is closely linked to the shape of the goods, hence it is impossible to provide patterns of generally and reliably effective models, without taking into account the shape of a specific product. This work analyse logistics and outbound freight transport in order to develop models to streamline load planning procedures for unpackaged goods, with specific reference to tyres. It can be theoretically divided into three parts: the first examines in depth the context in which the analysis is made; the second introduces the main variables in connection with freight transport management and provides a reference bibliography for each of them; the third part, in conclusion, is the actual study of how goods loading onto freight carriers can best be optimized.

Abstract
It can be theoretically divided into three parts: the first examines in depth the context in which the analysis is made; the second introduces the main variables in connection with freight transport management and provides a reference bibliography for each of them; the third part, in conclusion, is the actual study of how goods loading onto freight carriers can best be optimized.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
