This work deals with the energy-efficiency improvement and extension project of the building of the Polo di Formazione Professionale in the city of Sondrio. The aim of the study was to design with full understanding of how our choices influence the environment and on the well-being of the users. For this project, the energy consumption and the global cost of the building, were parameters of interest in order to offer a fully sustainable infrastructure: The optimisation of the energy efficiency and the overall cost of the project was taken into account in designing a comfortable and functional building that meets the need of the users and complies with the legislation. Thanks to the detailed study of the existing building and its environment, we decided to design greenhouses to create new spaces, decrease the energy consumption and modernise the image of the school (in accordance with the school manager during the metaproject). Throughout the whole project, we gave special attention to all the different forms of light, for the architectural, thermal and lighting design. The optimization of the design choices has been made on one hand through a parametric study in order to minimise the global cost of the building, and the energy of its life cycle, and on the other hand through careful architectural and material choices, that naturally took into account the environment and the technical and functional needs. A preliminary analysis was conducted to quantify the impact of geometric (orientation, transparency, isolation,...) and functional (ventilation, screening) variations for the volumes we intended to design and for the existing building. The energy efficiency and comfort level of the building were assessed at the same time as the architectural, technological and structural design. This work has enabled us to develop a method that will allow us to face efficiently the challenges of sustainable design.

Abstract
This work has enabled us to develop a method that will allow us to face efficiently the challenges of sustainable design.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
