The transfemoral amputation is an instability condition, that causes a huge disability for the patient. The need to realize a coupling that is comfortable for him, asks for an analysis of the numerical values about the contact pressures and the shear stress between stump and socket. This has been possible thanks to the finite elements method (FEM): it has been built two models, one for the analysis of the contact during the donning procedure and one for the analysis during the gait. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the good adaptation of the model to variation of the input parameters, they have been presented four changes to the second model.

Abstract
The transfemoral amputation is an instability condition, that causes a huge disability for the patient. The need to realize a coupling that is comfortable for him, asks for an analysis of the numerical values about the contact pressures and the shear stress between stump and socket. This has been possible thanks to the finite elements method (FEM): it has been built two models, one for the analysis of the contact during the donning procedure and one for the analysis during the gait. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the good adaptation of the model to variation of the input parameters, they have been presented four changes to the second model.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
